Alexander Wilson

Alexander Wilson (6 de julio de 1766 – 23 agosto de 1813) fue un poeta, naturalista, ornitólogo e ilustrador norteamericano de origen escocés. Wilson nació en Paisley, Escocia, hije de un destilador analfabeto. En 1779 se convirtió en aprendiz de tehedor. Su principal interés en esta etapa fue la poesía y sus poemas sobre el maltrato que recibían los tejedores de sus patrones le ocasionó algunos problemas con las autoridades. Wilson era siete años menor que Robert Burns y ocho mayor que Robert Tannahill. Parece que alrededor de esta época hubo bastante actividad literaria en Paisley.
